South Street Underpass and 42 Gateway – Louisville, CO
Overview
As part of the ongoing revitalization of Louisville’s Highway 42 corridor, Chase developed a series of graphic visualizations that helped shape a deeper understanding of how a railroad underpass could serve as more than just infrastructure—it could become a unifying element between historic downtown Louisville and the emerging 42 Gateway district.
Building on earlier subarea planning work, this next phase focused on transforming vision into physical form. Chase’s 3D visualizations and design illustrations were critical in demonstrating how the underpass could act as a catalyst for redevelopment, signaling the City’s commitment to extending the character and vitality of downtown into the adjacent, transit-oriented redevelopment zone.
Through these graphics, stakeholders and the community were able to see how thoughtful design could weave together old and new, turning a functional connection into a focal point of civic identity. Rather than a barrier, the underpass became a bridge—both physically and symbolically—uniting past and future Louisville.
