Orem Front Runner Station Area Planning | Orem, Utah

Overview

As a subconsultant to people + place, Chase worked closely with Orem City Planning Staff to support the Imagine Orem Station initiative—an ambitious effort to reimagine the area surrounding Orem’s FrontRunner station. Through a highly collaborative process, Chase developed visualizations and planning diagrams that played a central role in evaluating and refining multiple rezoning scenarios generated through community engagement.

These visual tools helped clearly illustrate how different land use and development strategies would function in the real world—balancing the needs of residents, Utah Transit Authority, Utah Valley University, and the broader community. By testing ideas in 3D and visualizing impacts such as building scale, walkability, open space, and transit integration, the team was able to synthesize a hybrid zoning solution that supported shared goals while addressing key concerns.

The graphics didn’t just communicate the plan—they helped shape smarter, more responsive zoning standards, ensuring that the final vision was grounded in both community aspirations and practical implementation strategies for this critical gateway area.
