Our Missoula Code Update – Missoula, MT

As part of Metta Urban Design, Chase assisted in testing potential code changes throughout the city to align with their growth policy and new statewide mandates for development regulations. A prototypical lot analysis was performed to ensure that the revised zoning code aligns with the form and pattern of their historic neighborhoods while supporting the need for additional housing.

As Missoula grows, we face many issues, including income inequality and other equity challenges; high costs of housing and issues related to homelessness; and environmental impacts due to climate change. The City of Missoula adopted a bold and comprehensive planning document in our City Growth Policy in 2015 that began to address the health and wellness of our community. Our Missoula is an extensive project that seeks to work with the community to update Missoula’s Growth Policy and to overhaul the zoning code, one of our key tools for achieving this vision.
